#Letter
We are workers from XING YUAN (Myanmar) Co., Ltd garment factory, located on Thein Chaung Road in the Wataya Industrial Zone, Shwepyithar Township. The factory has been operating for over a year and employs around 500 workers. The owner is Chinese.
We are writing to report the behavior of the Line 1 supervisor. She shouts at workers and uses abusive language from the moment work begins each morning. She repeatedly uses offensive words while giving instructions. As women, being spoken to in such a degrading way by another woman makes us feel deeply uncomfortable and ashamed. It is so humiliating that we sometimes feel like running away.
This verbal abuse happens every morning at the start of work. The line supervisor is close to the assistant supervisor and even travels to work in the same car. Everyone can hear when she shouts inside the production line.
She repeatedly tells us to quit if we cannot do the job whenever we are unable to meet expectations. Because of such threats, we are afraid to report the issue anywhere.
Among all supervisors in the factory, the Line 1 supervisor is the most verbally aggressive. Official working hours begin at 8 a.m. Many of us eat breakfast at the factory in the morning. However, the manager forces workers to enter the workplace before 8 a.m., shouting even at those who are still eating.
We do not have a proper channel to file complaints inside the factory. That is why we are sending this letter to make our situation known.
