Hello.
This is a factory located on Yadanarbon Road, Ywar Thar Gyi Industrial Zone, South Dagon Township, Yangon. It is the Dagon Talent Garment factory.
The supervisors are being sent on a trip for three days March 27, 28, and 29 paid for by the factory. We workers were happy about that.
However, March 28 falls on a Saturday. We were told that we must work four hours of overtime without pay, for free for that day.
We were also asked to sign to show that we agree to this. They said signing was optional, but those who did not sign were called in and scolded by the supervisors.
In reality, the supervisors are already receiving fixed salaries. Overtime pay is very important for us daily wage workers. Now we are losing the equivalent of 8 hours of overtime pay.
Whether this was ordered by the factory or suggested by the supervisors, it is completely unfair. They are exploiting our labor.
We would like the relevant authorities to resolve this issue. There is a WCC in the workplace, but they only follow the factory’s orders. They show no interest in workers’ rights and do not take any action.
As for HR, they are only interested in playing online gambling games.
