Xing Yuan Factory, located in Wataya Industrial Zone, Shwepyitha Township, Yangon Region, is forcing workers to work overtime without pay.
Workers are repeatedly required to work overtime until early morning using the excuse that production targets are not met.
Supervisors and line leaders tell us that we must voluntarily work overtime on our own initiative because production targets are not met.
Supervisors say, “The factory cannot give you anything.” This is clearly using production targets as an excuse to force workers to work overtime without paying overtime wages. Workers’ living conditions require not only work, but also fair and appropriate wages for their labor.
The factory has only been operating for about one year and is a garment factory producing brands such as Sinsay and GUESS.
