Workers from ALLAND FASHION LIMITED, located on Shwe Oo Road, Plot No. (–), Hlaingtharyar Township, say they are being deducted monthly for social security but are not allowed to use the benefits, and that some of their labour rights are being violated — causing them harm and leading them to demand what they are entitled to.

ALLAND FASHION LIMITED is a Chinese citizen-owned factory employing over 800 workers and manufacturing Franklin Climbing brand jackets.

Workers said the employer does not grant earned leave or medical leave, and their time off requests are also denied. As a result, the daily wage and attendance bonus — 1,000 kyats and 30,000 kyats — are deducted. Despite being deducted monthly from their salary for social security, they are not allowed to access social security health benefits, which workers say causes them financial and emotional harm.

“They’re deducting for social security, but not letting us use the benefits. That’s like stealing our salary. Supervisors are also treating us unfairly, separating them from each other, manipulating point assignments and wages, and pressuring them to work excessive overtime, all while providing unsanitary drinking water,” workers said.

Workers said daily wages are also being unfairly distributed. For the same job, workers on tougher points may receive 10,000 kyats in daily wage, while others get only 9,000 kyats. Lines with many workers are assigned fewer garments, while lines with fewer people are given more — creating intentional imbalances by the supervisors.

Workers at ALLAND FASHION LIMITED have requested help from the Industrial Workers Federation of Myanmar (IWFM) due to the excessive overtime and the above-mentioned violations.

The workers’ demands include:

  1. The employer must stop assigning garment targets that workers cannot complete.
  2. The employer must grant earned and medical leave to workers.
  3. The employer must not assign young workers aged 14, 15, or 16 the same tasks as adult workers, and must not divide wages unequally.
  4. The employer must stop forcing workers to work constant overtime without rest days or without pay.
  5. The employer must provide clean and safe drinking water.
  6. The employer must stop paying different daily wages to workers doing the same job under the same roof.
