Workers at SANYAN OUTDOOR Co., Ltd Launch Wage Increase Protest

Workers at SANYAN OUTDOOR Co., Ltd, located on Thein Kyaung Road in the Wataya Industrial Zone, Shwepyithar Township, Yangon Region, began staging a protest this morning (February 23) demanding wage increases, according to sources.

Approximately 700 factory workers initiated the action at around 8:00 a.m. today. Their demands include raising the daily wage to 12,500 kyats, increasing overtime pay to 2,500 kyats per hour, and increasing the attendance bonus to 60,000 kyats to be paid twice monthly. They are also calling for higher garment production bonuses 200,000 kyats for Grade A+, 150,000 kyats for Grade A, 100,000 kyats for Grade B, and 50,000 kyats for Grade C. In addition, they are seeking grade allowance increases to 180,000 kyats for A+, 150,000 kyats for A, 100,000 kyats for B, and 70,000 kyats for C, workers said.

SANYAN OUTDOOR Co., Ltd began operations in May 2025 as a garment manufacturing business and produces for brands including Sinsay, SNSY Out Were, and Sinsay Mens, according to available information.

As of around 9:00 a.m., management had reportedly informed workers that none of the demands could be met and warned that if the protest continues, participants would be dismissed on the third day.
