Workers from Chinese national owned and Soliver and GS brand slippers manufacturing Vicsong (Vicsong- Myanmar footwear Co.,Ltd) which locates near Hsin Phyu Kwin, Bago City Bypass road said that the factory only gives 40 percent of the salary.

“The factory close due to lack of tasks to do but do not give us full wages which is 5,800 kyats per day ut only 40 percent of it. The workers suffers a lot as the factory close rapidly,” said a senior worker.

A worker with more than 3 years of service said that workers those who equivalent wages of the seniority leaves are counted in the 40 percent of the salary are suffer more.

“They counted our equivalent wages of the seniority leaves  in the 40 percent salary for the closed period and we get neither the wages or the leave,” said a worker.

The factory always closed in February every year and some time it re-open only after a months and the workers are also forced to lie on inspecting teams by the stuffs from the office.

“The factory knows in advance for the inspections and they are prepared such as teaching the workers how to answer and the main point is not to tell that they only get paid 40 percent of the wages,” said a worker.

The drinking water is toggled and not provided always in addition of not having sufficient transportation buses which cause the workers to stand up on way back home.

The transportation is quite bad. Workers rapidly sick as they have to go back home standing after working tiredly. There is no clinic and medicines in the factory and a medicine case is displayed only when the inspectors come but workers don’t get access to medicines. They even intimidate us with firing if we refuse to work on Sunday overtime. The toilets are also usually dirty as it usually don’t have water,” said a worker.

The workers send a mail to Myanmar Labour News about having to finger print four times a day and cut with the grounds of not finding finger print records which cause each workers from 7,000 to 50,000 kyats.
