Thailander Burmese without passport could apply for CI until the end of October

The ministry of labour announced that the migrant workers from Myanmar who are living without document in Thailand could apply for Certificate of Identification from February 23 to the end of October.

Currently there are five CI issuing camps in Thailand each locates at Pathum Thani, Samut Prakan, Samut Sakhon, Chon Buri and Surat Thani districts and there will also be mobile units in Chiang Mai, Nakhon Sawan and Songkhla districts.

“Workers should process himself to not have to give more than it would cost. Don’t submit via the agents. We have to look the ground situations and there are too many Burmese who came illegally and many scummers agents too who are cooperating with the stuffs,” said a Burmese from Thailand.

The ministry of Labour would ask for the income tax in addition of the CI fees. Those who applied at February 2024 have to give 600 THB income tax for 2023 October to 2024 January and the CI fee 710 THB, a total of 1310 THB.

Those who would apply in March and later than March have to pay the CI fee 700 THB and income tax 750 THB and it would take 150 THB for a month later.

The labor activist from Thailand said that many Myanmar nationals entered illegally to Thailand after the coup and the number of arrests are also increasing.
