The sole proprietorships business owners said that it is becoming difficult them to operate on their business due to rapid electricity shortages more than before.

As of 2019, 50 percent of the country get sufficient electricity, but the availability of electricity has decreased more than before since the 2021 coup d'état.

At present, people only get around (5) hours of electricity per day.

“The electricity cut off at both day and night. My main business is to sell ice-creams and cold water. But the refrigerator can’t even used. The volt is not sufficient even if there is electricity. I can’t sell anything. Most customers come at night only if they see the lights. It would very difficult in long term. Those business that relies electricity would have to stop,” said a sole proprietorship business owner.

In townships with industrial zones, there is no method to determine the time people get electricity.

“I own a small apparel business. I have to use the generator when the electricity is cut off. So, the cost of fuel is extra. Worse than that is we can't buy fuel. We have to ask for a certificate to buy fuel. I really don't want to continue doing things like that anymore. And I give my stuffs more than the factories and I don’t get interests later. I am just continuing to do what I have started. But if it get worse, I would stop all,” said a person who is operating a sole proprietorship apparel business.

Not only the businessmen but also the people are facing difficulties due to electricity shortages.
