Please also speak up about the Myanma Myo Purified Water Factory, Admin.

They only pay 1,000 kyat per hour for overtime. We have to work for nearly two years to earn a base salary of 260,000 kyat.

We don’t even know for sure whether overtime wages will be paid or not when we work on public holidays. It feels like we only get paid if someone in management feels like giving it.

On May 1, Labour Day, the factory honored us on its Facebook page. We workers had to work overtime. But no overtime wages were paid. They honored us without giving a single kyat to the factory workers.

They do pay for overtime when we work on major holidays. But sometimes they say we’ll get one and a half times the normal pay, sometimes they say double — so workers are left confused, not even sure what they’re getting.

We work from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM during Thingyan holidays, and they pay a flat 15,000 kyat per day. But with today’s cost of living, the wages and overtime pay just don’t match up, Admin.

The factory is located in Ward 14, Hlaing Yadanar Street, Hlaingtharyar Township. Altogether, there are 45 staff members including helpers, production staff, and office staff.

Before reaching the 260,000 kyat mark, we only earn 230,000 kyat per month. We don’t get any benefits. We only get one thing — nine eggs per month.

Please help us, Admin.
