We are workers from the Nay Shwe Win garment factory which  located in the Wataya Industrial Zone.

Not long ago, the workers collectively made demands. It was negotiated that on Saturdays we would finish work only until 4 p.m., but now they are saying we must work until 6:30 p.m.

It is not just this day. We have to work until 9 p.m on other days as well. Currently, the normal working hours are from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. We have to work more than four hours of overtime in one day. In a week, we are working more than 20 hours of overtime.

We cannot report it to the WCC either. They themselves are willingly going along with it. The manager is also seen dismissing some workers without compensation, giving reasons as excuses.

As we return home late from work, it is difficult for workers regarding meals and daily living. There are also cases where we encounter military conscription arrests. The danger has become more concerning although we receive more wages due to working overtime.

We want our worries to be understood. We want action to be taken against forcing overtime beyond what is permitted by law.

Currently, the Nay Shwe Win factory is manufacturing Sinsay garments. There are around 1,000 workers.
