Workers from Myanmar Fala Fala Clothing garment factory continued their demands on July 21 for a third consecutive day, calling for increases in attendance bonuses and other entitlements, according to workers.
More than 300 sewing workers are involved in the protest, and workers reported that access to and from the factory premises has been restricted.
“They’ve barricaded the side of the factory with chain link fences, and then blocked it further with vehicles. The protesting workers can’t even access drinking water now, and the toilets are also off-limits. They’ve done this so we can’t gather or protest inside the factory compound,” the workers said.
Workers are demanding an increase in daily wage from 10,000 to 12,000 kyats, an overtime rate increase from 2,100 to 2,700 kyats, and that their regular attendance bonus not be cut if they gate pass at 4:30 PM.
Myanmar Fala Fala Clothing garment factory is located on Mya Road, Thadukan Industrial Zone, Shwepyitha Township, Yangon, and employs around 2,000 workers.
