The legal battle between the worker and the Pepsi company which located at the Mawbe Township, CEO and HR reached its 30th trial session.

Regarding this incident, STUM urges Pepsi consumers around the world to join the consumer campaign to prevent further harm to victims like U Thaung Han.

The case between former employee U Thaung Han and Pepsi was scheduled for trial on August 26th at the Mawbi District Court, and the plaintiff U Thaung Han was interrogated according to the preliminary objection (2) and the next trial was rescheduled for September 9 at 11:00 p.m.

Pepsi failed to protect workers’ right although being internationally famous brand and still using the strategy to extend the trail sessions until the employer can’t afford more. The helper of the case said that there were many workers with similar experience of U Thaung Han but they withdrawn due to not daring to face the employer.

Pepsi submitted the 3 defendants but the judge rejected Pepsi's amended statement of defense for the case and examining both side.

After the two-sided examination was conducted at the Mawbe District Court, the judge ordered that the company label be sued as an additional lawsuit, and the company have to confront.

U Thaung Han was dismissed illegally on October 31, 2022 due to his age which is against the EC contract and the negotiations were not success in several levels and the worker sued only at mid-March 2023 when he get approval letter to sue.

There is a campaign to international customers to boycott Pepsi as the factory dismissed a worker who worked for 20 years without compensation and dismissed the sales in the same way without compensation on the grounds that they don’t hit the target.
