Labour rights activist Daw Myo Myo Aye and eight others were brought before Shwepyitha Court on August 25, according to reports.
Due to the absence of the complainants at that court appointment, a new hearing has been scheduled for September 1.
It is known that the defense lawyer applied for bail for Daw Myo Myo Aye and the other eight, but the legal officer objected, and the September 1 court date has been set to hear the bail application.
As of now, no additional charges or legal articles have been filed against Daw Myo Myo Aye and her group. However, it is reported that Daw Myo Myo Aye has not yet received medication related to her diabetes since her transfer to Insein Prison.
On the night of July 25, labour rights activist Daw Myo Myo Aye was arrested by the military council. Subsequently, the STUM office was raided, and her daughter Ma Thin Htet San, along with other members and staff were also arrested on the night of July 28.
Daw Myo Myo Aye, who leads the labour support organization STUM, and 10 members of the group are being prosecuted separately under the Labour Organization Law, Section 5(1)(F)(G).
In 2021, Daw Myo Myo Aye was previously arrested under Section 505(a) and detained for six months before being released under a general amnesty.
Domestic and international labour organizations, along with human rights groups, have called for the immediate release of Daw Myo Myo Aye and the detained STUM members.
