Labor right violations of Dishang Group (Myanmar) Dihuali Grament

The workers from the Dishang Group(Myanmar)Dihuali Grament garment factory which locates at Anawrahtar and Ayeyarwaddy Road Intersection, Anawrahtar Industrial Zone, Hlaing Thar Yar Township said that there are labor right abuses in the factory and they wants to ask for help for resolvent.

The owner of the factory is the Chinese and the factory is manufacturing and importing FINEASSIST and BEST COOL brands jackets and pants.

The wages are 4,800 kyats for the daily wages, 1,200 kyats per hour for the overtimes, 30,000 for attendance bonus and the grade bonuses are 36,000 kyats for A, 24,000 kyats for B and 12,000 kyats for C and attendance bonuses are cut no matter what kind of leave is taken just for a day, so that the workers said that they want the legal leave benefits.

Fabric amounts beyond the productivity are asked and the supers are keep pressurizing for not getting their demands/

“The employer already asked the amounts beyond which we could give. The factory manager would pressurize the supers for not meeting the fabric targets and vice versa the supers would do the same to the workers. They ask 30 pieces per hour for some difficult fabrics and some are asked 50 to 80 per hours. They usually forced us to work overtime without our consents with the grounds of important orders,” said the worker.

“We have to work until 21:00, 00:00 and 4:00 in some days and continue to work in the next morning. Sunday’s overtime wages are not added to the salaries but issued on the next Fridays. There are even some workers who fainted and got headaches due to excessive overtime and attendance bonuses and grade bonus are also cut for taking a leave too. We are barely surviving although working as this much,” said the worker.

The workers have to buy drinking water from outside as the water provided by the factory is not purified and they want the factory to repair the scanted and damaged toilets.

Day laborers are fired at 2 weeks after hired and the factory intimidates to fine if something wrong doing is found when the inspectors from Japan come.

According to the workers, their requests are to recircuit the overtime only if they  agree on their own consents, to ask only the fabric amounts that they could sew, not to cut attendance bonus and grade bonuses for taking legal leaves, to provide purified water, safety measures and not to intimidate them.
