Workers from BOHUA FASHION CO,LTD said that the supervisors are verbally abusing the workers by verbal abuse. The factory locates at Bamaw A Twin Wun Street, Shwe Lin Ban Industrial Zone, Hlaing Thar Yar Township and manufacturing OUT WEAR, RESEVED and SINSAY brands with more than 300 workers and there is no trade union in the factory.

Day laborers are hired with only 2 months contract which they are dismissed after that and sufficient drinking water and clean toilets are not provided. Casual, medical leaves are not also permitted and fabric amounts exceeding their productivities are also asked and verbally abused daily.

“Only those who are comfortable with the supervisors get legal leaves. Daily wages of 5,600 kyats and attendance bonus 15,000 kyats are cut for taking a leave for emergency reasons. It cost double after the half of the month. We want to drink sufficient water too due to hot temperature but its never enough,”

There are 45 people including the supers in a cavity and 40 fabric pieces are asked per hour and the supervisors are verbally abusing with a speaker in the factory twice or thrice a day for not finishing the fabrics.

“The fabrics outputs are asked one sided. The Chinese female manager asked in the cavities with a microphone about the fabrics. We are cut if we complained and a store supervisor cut 5,000 for complaining her. There are no resolves for these issues. There is only an assistant in HR department but not a manager so the assistance alone is pressurizing the workers,” said a worker who don’t want to be named.

“They are going to cut for 16 hours wages from the overtime we worked on Saturdays for two substitute days of Thingyan. And they forced us to work janitorial tasks the whole morning and said four hours of overtime from that janitorial works will be cut. They didn’t acknowledge the janitorial works as working hours and force the workers to sign and report to anywhere,” said a worker.

The workers said that they want to request that to address the workplace disputes, to prevent the supervisors from verbally abusing the workers, to give access to leave and holidays, not to cut their benefits, the foreigners to not directly manage the works and to provide Mediclinic, nurse and drugs in the factory.
