I am a worker from Jum garment factory from Inntai. The factory’s name is Jun Coporation Co.,Ltd. Its Inntai factory near Zayatkwin, Hleku Township. The working hour starts at 7:20 a.m. and finish at 7:50 p.m. The overtime wages is not paid after the work.

We also have to work rapid all-night overtime (until 4:00 a.m.). We work from 12:30 p.m. after the lunch to 7:50 p.m. continuously without a break. It is every day. We also work until 7:50 p.m. on Saturdays. It is around 1 year since we were working like that. We also work on Sundays.

We work 2 Sundays and 4 all-night overtimes in July. There is very few day offs and we can’t refuse to work overtime. We are not dare to complaint as the office stuffs scold us and the supers said our grade will be reduce which can cost us around 30,000 kyats.

We are working really tired and its anxious as well. We can’t take leave as the expert fee and attendance bonus are cut which cost around 60,000 kyats.

The daily wage is 6,000 kyats and the overtime fee is 1,400 kyats per hour.

The owner is South Korean National. There are more than 1,000 workers and there is WCC as well but the members are not the ones we choose. The WCC in ineffective.

We don’t need to take loans if the overtime fee is paid immediately. But for now we are on depts while not knowing how much we would get paid. Our depts have interests so for us it feels like we are working for free.

We want the factory to finish the working hours at 4:30 p.m. on weekends even if they call overtime.  They need to sympathize the workers as we are going back late everyday including day offs. The neighboring factories are giving 7,000 kyats per day and we are having anxious while getting 1,000 kyats lesser. Please help us.
