Jing Ying tile factory doesn’t provide employment contract and assigns workers task which are not related to the job

Workers from Jing Yang tile factory which locates at Mya Street, Thar Du Kan Industrial Zone, Shwe Pyi Thar Township said that they are assigned to task which are not related to the job as soon as the working hours are over.

“We are asked to cut the grass, clean the drainage, fix the roof, remove the rust and algae and female workers have to wash the underwear of the Chinese nationals stuffs of the employer,” they said,

The factory shift the job types without workers consents for not working overtime on Sunday. Jing Ying (Jing Ying Int’l Co.,Ltd ) tile factory is visible on Google Map navigation app as Jing Ying International Building Material Development Co.,Ltd.  Workers said they are getting paid lesser than the minimal wage.

“Workers get paid only 150,000 kyats and new workers get paid 200,000 kyats. We don’t get pay raise although we work the same,” a worker said.

It is said that there is no employment contract between employer and employees. Section 5 of the Employment and Skill Development Law, enacted on August 30, 2013 stipulates that "an employer must sign an employment contract within 30 days after appointing an employee to work."

Jing Ying (Jing Ying Int’l Co.,Ltd ) pays the salary with the slip that have Arr Mann Thit label and workers have to sign for terms not related to work in August.

Similar scenario happens at Arr Mann Thit automobile factory and Myanmar Labour News can’t confirm yet about weather the two companies are related.

Workers said that they have complaint the violations to the Department of Labour Relations.
