HUI YUAN garment workers said that they have to work continuously for 7 hours without a break as soon as they finished their lunch to 7:00 pm. The factory locates at Dagon Seikan Industrial Zone.
“We have to work until 7:00 pm after the lunch time at 12:30 without a break. They would give 10 minutes break, if we have to work overtime until 8:30 or 9:30. But 10 minutes is not enough for us and we don’t even know how it finish. The all supers are always scolding us,” said a worker.
The factory didn’t tell the workers in advance about the overtime and force them to sign to work overtime just before they were to go back home. Most workers said that they don’t want to work mid night overtime due to current situations.
“They don’t tell us about the overtime in advanced and we can’t refuse it. The all supers are continuously pressurizing us and they were too rude. We are working only because it is difficult to find another job. We don’t want to work till mid night but we can’t refuse,” said the worker.
2 all supers manage the 8 cavities of the HUI YUAN garment factory and both of them verbally abuse the workers.
“There were 2 all supers in the factory. One for line 1 to 4 and another for line 5 to 8. The all super who managed line 1 to 4 is too rude that it’s not even appropriate to mention how she treats us,” said a worker.
The all super of line 1 to 4 collect money from the workers with the reason to donate an orphan kid.
The workers thought it was going to help a worker from the factory but in fact she used those money for the depts of a worker from another department. It happened one week ago and the all super did it by calling meeting to all workers from line 1 to 4.
“We gave those money as we believed it is a charity but it’s an extortion as the money is given to use for personal issue and the other question is did, she used her position for this,” questioned the workers.
There are around 1000 workers in HUI YUAN garment factory and the factory is manufacturing Jackets, Leathers and Warm cloths and it is operating by foreign investments according to the information form Dica.
