We want to ask for help.

We are workers from HERMITE plush toys factory. The address is No(30), Kyauk Sein Street, Thar Du Kan Industrial Zone, Shwe Pyi Thar Township, Yangon.

The factory is owned by a South Korean national and the Chinese national man manage the factory. We are forced to work overtime until 9:00 or 9:30 pm since the mid of May. Sometimes they force us to work all night. At first we were given 2,000 kyats allowance by the employer for working until 9:00 pm and 3,000 kyats if the time exceeds 9:30 pm.

Since the end of May, all factory workers are forced to work overtime until 9:30 pm and also on the Sundays. We are also working on today (Eid).

They forced us to work until 9:00 pm without informing us about the overtime. Sometimes, it is until 9:30 pm. We are also forced to work until the dawn. They don’t give the allowance for that which they said they will give. The daily wages of the day off is said as allowance.

Nearly the whole factory work overtime until 9:00 pm mandatorily since June. Those who don’t work overtime are taken out to the office to tell the reason.

We have to inform a leave for not working overtime on Sundays. The manager female intimidate us by asking if we already have 3 months of service. Actually, even she has not. The rice provided is already spoiled and we are eating medium rare meets.

The meal allowance 2,000 kyats is also added to the overtime fees. They don’t care that we can’t eat with the spoiled meet. The manager collected about workers who can’t eat and said those don’t eat wouldn’t get paid meal allowace.

The manager said they would cut 33 % of the daily wages for missing overtime for the first time, 70 % for the second time and not giving anything for the third time. Gate pass, leaves will be forbitten. There are more than 1,000 workers in the factory but there is no trade union or the WCC.

There is demotion and transfer for those who can’t work overtime and there are some leaders who leave after demotion. The manager and all super told that those who can’t do as they said have to leave.

The factory’s toilets are full and having odor but there is no maintenance. There are mosquitos because of that.

There are many workers who got sick but the nurse didn’t take care but yelled at the patients. I asked for help in the fastest and most certain  way for all other workers.

Hermite factory’s manager is Ma Wut Yee and she speaks Chinese a little.
