I am a worker from Hengda Myanmar garment factory.

We work overtime until 7:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday and we also don’t get holiday on Sunday as well.

The brand’s and labor office’s officials came to inspect for calling excessive overtime but there is no significant changes.

The only day we went back at 6:30 p.m. was the day they came to inspect. Starting the nest day, it go backs to normal and we work until 7:30 p.m. again. The normal overtime was until 6:30 p.m.

There is no people on way back home during raining season and we have security concerns.

There is no electricity and no one would know even if we are robbed or kidnapped. It is also inconvenient for us to make dinner during that time as the shops are already close.

We want an effective inspection. The supervisors also force us to work overtime without sympathizing us. We also work on the last Sunday (28th July). The leaders scold us in public even if we miss for health issue.

The WCC doesn’t do anything as they are afraid of being disappointed by the employer. We can’t complin to them. It fail every time they attempted. Please help us.

#Information (The Hengda garment factory was inspected by ambassadors of the H&M brand following complaints that workers' rights were being violated. The workers said that the inspectors found out that day laborers were hired and that workers were being forced to work on weekends. According to the workers, the factory closed for one day off due to such findings. However, the workers sent a letter saying that the factory violated the law and forced them to continue working overtime after the inspection.
Hengda garment factory locates at Innlyat Village, Mawbe Township and operating with around 1,500 workers.
