Workers from the Chinese national-owned GTIG Guohua Glory (GTIG 2) garment factory in the Wataya Industrial Zone, Yangon Region, reached a mutual agreement with the employer to raise the daily wage to 11,500 kyats after demanding an increase in the basic wage.

Workers at GTIG 2, located in Shwe Pyi Thar Township, had originally demanded a minimum wage of 13,000 kyats and an overtime rate of 3,000 kyats. However, according to a statement from STUM, the negotiation resulted in an agreement for a daily wage of 11,500 kyats and an overtime rate of 2,100 kyats, with both sides signing a collective agreement.

The agreement, reached on May 26, 2025, through negotiation facilitated by the township-level joint labour relations committee, included the following: the factory, Guohua Glory Co., Ltd, and worker representatives agreed on raising the previous basic wage of 5,800 kyats plus a subsidy of 3,200 kyats to a new total of 11,500 kyats—comprising 5,800 kyats basic wage and 5,700 kyats subsidy. The overtime pay was also raised from 2,000 kyats to 2,100 kyats per hour.

It was also stipulated in the agreement that workers would not be compensated for the strike day, May 26, 2025, as they accepted a “No Work, No Pay” condition.
