A fire broke out today, December 18, at approximately 7:51 PM in an industrial zone located East Dagon Township, Yangon Region, according to a statement released by the Myanmar Fire Services Department.

"We have identified it as a garment factory initially but further investigations are ongoing. Nothing is confirmed yet," said a firefighter.

The fire occurred at a garment factory on Pan Pae Wun U Shwe O Road, East Dagon Industrial Zone. Members of the Myanmar Fire Services Department, along with volunteers from social support organizations, responded to the incident at Level 1 severity. The fire was brought under control by 8:04 PM and was completely extinguished by 8:16 PM. Investigations into the cause of the fire and the value of the damages are currently being carried out by the Myanmar Fire Services Department.

Earlier this month, on December 5, another fire broke out in a plastic seed factory within the same East Dagon Industrial Zone at around 8 PM. That fire resulted in significant damages and required a Level 2 response. Firefighters and social welfare volunteers handled for more than 8 hours, and the fire was only fully extinguished by the morning of December 6.
