(Letter from a worker at Myanmar Chaofa factory)

Not long after the letter was posted by Myanmar Labour News, we were told by the factory in the evening. Day workers are asked to take 4 days off from work. Also, there are underage workers among the day laborers and day laborers who got paid monthly.

They ask them to say that they are old enough to work when the inspectors came on January 5. The day workers were asked to take a break from work, and when asked by others, they told them to tell that as they had no orders. I'm telling this because I can't tolerate instead of them.

It's only been 3 months since our daily wages are changed the from 4800 to 5800. The inspectors will come tomorrow, so they ask those who are not yet of age to say that they are old enough. In our factory, everyone from the leader to the HR teacher is on the mentors’ side. No one looks for us, staffs. This is reporting from Myanmar Chaofa factory.

The last time the factory closed was 10 days in August. Before that, it was closed for 1 month or 1 and a half month. Only 2,400 kyats is paid to workers during the weekend. I don't know how they report to the labor office. The workers were told in advance that the inspectors would come and they were asked to say that they have already turned 18.

(Information obtained by Myanamr Labor News includes that nearly 50 child day laborers at the Myanmar Chaofa factory were asked to take 4 days off from work and told to return to the factory on next Monday. In addition, the woman in charge of the factory called some underage workers among the 150 workers to answer falsely when 6 officials from the labor office will be there to inspect the factory on January 5rd.
