Cut for Thadingyut Vernation without workers’ consents

LUCKY FORTUNE GARMENT workers said that they are being cut for Thadingyut vernation for superiors without their consents and they don’t get equal rights and benefits in the workplace.

The factory locates at Sayar U Tun Street, Shwe Pyi Thar Industrial Zone 4, Inn Sein Township, Yangon region and operating with more than 900 workers. The factory is owned by a Chinese national and manufacturing LCW VISION and ENCUENTRO brands.

There is not trade union in the factory but only a workplace coordination committee. The factory committee dismissed the worker from WCC who tried to defend the workers.

A production line with 44 people including supervisors, leaders and helpers are asked for 40 garments per hour per 40 minutes. For pants, they are asked 70 pieces per 40 minutes. A worker who don’t wanted to be named said that the supervisors are verbally abusing them and pressurizing. 

“Not every workers get equal rights regarding the legal leaves. Only those who are related to supervisors are allowed. Daily wage and subsidy 7,500 kyats, attendance bonus 40,000 kyats are cut for an absent with leave inform,” workers said.

Workers had to spend their own saving for workplace injuries and the employer never take responsibility and accountability.

“We were cut 18,000 kyats from our salary for Thadingyut Vernation without our consents and being pre-informed. We donate as much as we could for flood crisis and they get 2,000,000 lakhs but the donating list is not transparent. We only saw them donating items but not financially,” said a worker.

Workers said that they are seeking resolvent regarding the workplace violations and their demands are  

1. To allow legal leaves equally to all workers

2. To not verbally abuse the workers

3. To not cut the workers without consents

4. To make the flood donation list transparent

5. To ask only for possible fabric output
