Businesses with 10 or more labours to pay a minimum wage of 4,800 MMK and an additional subsidy of 1,000 MMK

According to the Ministry of Labor of the Junta, labours who work in industries with 10 or more stuffs must be paid a minimum wage of 4,800 MMK as well as an additional support of 1,000 MMK. 

According to the Ministry of Labor announcement on October 5th, the minimum wage of 4,800 MMK for an 8 working hours a day, as well as an additional allowance of 1,000 MMK, would only be available to laboours from businesses operating under the CMP wage system, but on October 9th, it has been announced that the labours working in any businesses with 10 or more stuffs will also get it.

"At first, in addition 4,800 MMK and 1,000 MMK subsidy is for only the labours of the CMP workshops but now all the labours from any business with 10 or more labours will get it," said the Ministry of Labor official.

Government employees will receive an additional allowance of 30,000 MMK per month, but daily wage labours who paid at the end of the month in private enterprises will only receive an additional allowance of 26,000 MMK per month.

"This is not an increase in the minimum wage, it is an additional subsidy, so the calculation for overtime must be calculated at 4,800 MMK," the official from the Ministry of Labor continued.

It is reported that the minimum daily income of a labours will be 5,800 MMK with a minimum wage of 4,800 MMK for an 8-hour working day, plus an additional support fee of 1,000 MMK.

The 1,000 MMK additional subsidy will be received from October 1st of this month to the labours of enterprises with 10 or more labours but family enterprises with less than 10 labours are not included.
