A record number of people queuing up for TBP cards to enter and work in China last week was reported by Muse local aid groups. As there were nearly 8,000 people in the queue for token on January 7th, there were 15 or more people who fainted, according to “Kan Lat Ku Nyi”, the charity association that helps for token.

"Too many people gather to get a token and there are some who fainted. We collaborated with the doctors and nurses from the Tawin Family hospital to provided them first aid. Anyone who has a citizen's card can come and get token," said an official of the association.

Previously, the maximum number of TBP Tonkin queues was more than 6,000, but on January 7th there was a record number of more than 7,900 people queuing up for Tonkin queues, aid members said.

Among those in line, there was more than 1,000 Muse locals and the rest were from Sagaing, Magwe, Mandalay and Shan State. They queued for the token to work at garden, agriculture, factory, workshop and trading industries to work at the China border.

Locals also say that they are entering China on temporary entry permit cards (TBP) due to the lack of employment opportunity and political instability in Myanmar.

The token system started in last September to enter China with a one-time use card (TBP) valid for 7 days. It is reported that they started the one week reservation for the token after data collecting as there were clashes and overnight queues among many people who lined up.

Entry and exit with TBP card at Nan Daw, Hsin Phyu and Mant Wein gates in Muse was approved starting from September 4. The application of TBP card requires the original Myanmar Nationality Registration Card and can be issued at a rate of not more than 2,000 kyats.
