According to the workers, it is known that workers from Yangon Art Materials Incorporation Limited which locates at Mya Yadanar Street, Mya Sein Yaung Industrial Zone, Hlaing Thar Yar Township were fired on the grounds of playing in the free time.

The factory is a Chinese national owned factory which is manufacturing painting frames with a workforce of over 100 workers.

“I think it’s a kind of discrimination. Workers from each department are playing as they were few tasks to do but only the workers from the MG department are fired without inquires. We don’t even know where do we report for being illegally fired like this. We won’t report to the official departments anymore as they could never bring justice,” said the worker.

It is also noted that trade union is not formed although work place coordination committee exists. But the impulsive decision to fire for a typical situation is a labor right violation, said by the workers.

“There is an illegal factory beside our yards. The TC department is there. Workers from that department always have works to do. They even assign them our tasks. They said we are not in compare with them although we said not to discriminate the workers. And they shifted the workers between two factories and hold grudges on workers who do not want to change as they are not expert in. Then, they fire those workers with nonsense reasons. They are void from the actions as the fired workers who received damages are satisfied and didn’t file them,” said the worker.

The workers said that they want the factory to not discriminate the workers, not to dismiss illegally and to move the workers to other departments only with their consents.
