The Doh Eain Community Organization is offering a free four-month technical training program focused on construction skills to help women gain equal employment opportunities alongside men in the construction industry.
The “Women and Construction” program is open to women aged 18 to 40 who are interested in working in the construction sector. Doh Eain’s program includes a three-month skills training period followed by a one-month on-site apprenticeship at a construction site.
Participants will receive health insurance and necessary support throughout the training. Upon completion, they will be awarded a certificate of completion and have the chance to engage with industry professionals to explore future job opportunities.
Women interested in joining the program and entering the construction workforce can apply through the Doe Ei Facebook Messenger platform.
“Women are already working in construction, but the issue is they’re often limited to carrying bricks or cement under male foremen. In reality, women are also capable of tasks like bricklaying or welding. That’s why training is necessary. With free programs like the one offered by the Myanmar Construction Entrepreneurs Federation and this one by Doh Eain, I believe more women will be able to participate meaningfully in the construction workforce,” said an engineer from a local construction site.
The participation of women workers in construction is increasingly important and already taking place with labor shortages being felt across multiple sectors, including construction, and a shortage of male workers due to various factors.
